Jonah Hex gets a helmer
Horton director Jimmy Hayward nabs the job
Horton Hears A Who director Jimmy Hayward is the somewhat unlikely choice to direct DC Comics gunslinger pic Jonah Hex.
After Crank helmers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor left the project because of – you guessed it – creative differences – the producers started a fast-paced search to lock down another director.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy Hayward has won the job, which was previously offered to the likes of The Game Plan’s Andy Fickman and Terminator Salvation’s McG.
Josh Brolin attached
The film still has a star at least – No Country For Old Men’s Josh Brolin is still attached to play the Western warrior with the disfigured face and the bad attitude.
And while Warners apparently plans to hold on to Neveldine and Taylor’s take on the story (which drew in supernatural elements from the comic’s plot), Hayward is apparently getting to put his “stamp” on the film.
So does that mean Hex will now gain an adorable, animated sidekick voiced by Jim Carrey? Okay, we kid.
