You don't need a fireplace to enjoy a warm, cozy spot by the fire this holiday season - just toss a yule log video from YouTube up on the TV or laptop and - bam - you've got yourself a heartwarming scene to accompany your eggnog and hot cocoa. There's plenty of yule log videos to choose from, but this one, featuring Yarny from the upcoming platformer game Unravel, is a treat.
Yarny is, as you might surmise from his name, made of yarn. He started as a homemade toy, and his on-stage debut at E3 was actually super-cute and delightful. I think that's what the creators of this video were going for, and at times, I think it works. Other times I look at Yarny's imp-like horns and his unblinking eyes as he stares at me, and all I hear in my head is a creepy chorus of children singing, "He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake."
Oh well. At least our Unravel preview revealed it to be anything but creepy, but rather "precision designed to be adorable" (and pretty fun, too). Unravel will be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on February 9.
