Johnny Depp considering In The Hand Of Dante
His production company’s nabbed the rights
Johnny Depp has bought the rights – via his production company Infinitum Nihil – to Nick Tosches’ novel In The Hand Of Dante, which Depp may star in.
Literary history buffs will like this one – the 2002 book focuses on Dante’s best-known work, The Divine Company, jumping between time periods to show him trying to complete it as Tosches aims to authenticate it.
Variety reports that Depp has plans to star as Tosches.
Busy schedule
It’s a good thing he owns the production company and can make them wait, as Depp is already busy not only with Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, but also preparing to play Tonto in the Lone Ranger, return to the Pirates franchise and voice a character in Gore Verbinski’s Rango.
We doubt the executives at Nihil will mind much for another reason – he’s about to star as Hunter S Thompson in The Rum Diary, which the team is producing.
