Actor John Barrowman will be visiting the stables of racehorse trainer
John Best next month, to say hello to Hucking Harkness, a thoroughbred racehorse named after the character of Captain Jack Harkness.
(The other part of its name is from Hucking, the Kentish village where the horse is trained.)
John Best says, "We were discussing the Hucking horses and this colt stood out as a tricky one to name. Somebody mentioned Doctor Who, and from there we reached Captain Jack - and Hucking Harkness was born."
Barrowman apparently loves the idea, commenting, "I can’t wait to meet the colt, and I’m hoping to see him race, too."
You can read more about Doctor Who and Torchwood, although not much more about horses, in the next issue of SFX, on sale Wednesday 14 March.
