Joe Manganiello says Magic Mike 2 happening "this fall"
Stripping sequel on the way
Having grossed a hefty $167 million worldwide, against a budget of just $7 million, it always seemed inevitable that Magic Mike would spawn a sequel, and star Joe Manganiello says that production on a second film could begin later this year.
"Yeah, it’s gonna happen this fall," says Manganiello. "I think they’re going to announce it soon. It’s crazy. I didn’t think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career."
"But that said, it’s just proof that I don’t know best, all the time. It was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys.”
Channing Tatum recently posted a picture of himself working on the screenplay to the new film, so it sounds as though Manganiello has certainly got his information right.
It has also been rumoured that Tatum might co-direct with his writing and producing partner, Reid Carolin, although nothing has been confirmed as yet. In the meantime, his co-stars had better start hitting the gym...
