JJ Abrams & Colin Trevorrow tease satisfying answers to Rey's origins

In many ways, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was everything we'd hoped it would be, but in others, it left us unsatisfied. Many fans were left frustrated by the lack of answers about the origins of Daisy Ridley's Rey, but if you were one of them, don't worry...

In conversation with ET at the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party, Star Wars: Episode IX director, Colin Trevorrow promised that the answers are worth waiting for. "I've seen all of the theories. We’re going to make sure that that answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying.

"Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens, but in the entire galaxy. She deserves it. We’ll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was something that happened a long time ago, far away, and we’re just telling you what happened."

Some lucky people like Episode VII director, JJ Abrams already know the true identity of Star Wars' newest heroine, but unsurprisingly the master of mystery wasn't telling. "Obviously, it’s not for me to talk about in this moment because this is Rian’s story to continue now and the last thing I’m going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about," he told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour. "I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy". Are you open to a bribe JJ?

Directed by JJ Abrams and starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out in cinemas now.
