Jim Henson biopic planned
Kermit’s creator gets the film treatment
He improved entire generations of (mainly American) children’s lives by creating the Muppets. But Jim Henson's his own life is not something that's talked about.
But independent production company Empire Film Group is aiming to change that, throwing down cash to buy Henson, a chronicle of his life and felt-flavoured work.
"This is a major project about an entertainer of legendary stature and worldwide acclaim," blabbed Empire’s CEO Dean Hamilton-Bornstein in a statement. "The script is superb and should provide a terrific roadmap for a completed film that will satisfy both mainstream audiences and critics.”
No cast or a director yet (apparently Riding In Cars With Boys director Penny Marshall is wanted), but they still plan to start shooting in the summer. Comingsoon.net has the full press release , and let’s hope that $30 million budget includes the money to license the Muppets to appear themselves.
