Jim Carrey in line to join Kick-Ass 2?
Star could play Colonel Stars
Kick-Ass 2 could be on the brink of securing a major new name to join its ensemble cast, with Jim Carrey reportedly on Warner's wish-list for the upcoming sequel.
Deadline reports that the studio is keen to add Carrey to its lineup, with the role of Colonel Stars earmarked for the rubber-faced actor. Stars is a founding member of Justice Forever, a group of crime-fighters for which he is in charge of recruitment.
No deal is in place as yet, but an initial approach is thought to have been made, and Carrey is known to be a fan of the original movie. As stunt casting goes, it would certainly be an eye-catching move.
Carrey hasn't made a movie since family comedy Mr. Popper's Penguins back in 2011, and before that his last major role was Scrooge in A Christmas Carol . Should Universal put an attractive deal on the table, this could be the perfect project to put himself back in the limelight.
Directed by Jeff Wadlow (original helmer Matthew Vaughn returns as producer) and starring Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and John Leguizamo, Kick-Ass 2 opens in the UK on 19 July 2013.
