Jet Li wrapped up in The Mummy 3?
He’s in talks to play the villain
While we’re still trying to come to terms with the fact that the third Mummy outing will be moved from the frenetic, CG-happy hands of Steven Sommers and put into the bombastic, er, CG-happy hands of Rob Cohen, fresh news has emerged from the franchise.
Jet Li is in negotiations to play the main villain of the piece, taking over the desiccated role from usual Mummy Arnold Vosloo. The casting choice helps fuel word that Alfred Gough and Miles Millar’s script will be set in China, with the tale kicking off in ancient times before fast-forwarding to a post-World War Two era. And the new locale means we’ll see the famous terracotta warriors in action.
Not much else is known about the film, though rumours continue to rumble that it will focus on the son of Brendan Fraser’s character, seen as a child in The Mummy Returns and likely a 20-something adventurer in the third movie.
