Jessica Jones boss teases multiple villains for season 2

While Marvel movies are often criticised for having weak villains, the opposite is true for their Netflix division. In addition to Vincent D'Onofrio's spectacular turn as Wilson Fisk on Daredevil, David Tennant's Kilgrave made for a terrifying adversary on Jessica Jones. Indeed, season two of the latter show - which won't be arriving until 2018 - has a tough act to follow, but showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has hinted at how the upcoming batch of episodes will make up for Tennant's absence:

"The bar was set so freaking high — David Tennant has no equal — so I’m not even trying to go there", she told TV Line. "The biggest mistake I could make is to try to repeat that. So it will be a very different kind of antagonist… or antagonists".

One of the reasons Kilgrave worked so well as a villain is because of the history he shared with Jessica, something which we saw glimpses of in the latter episodes of the first season. Assuming we haven't yet been introduced to the villains Rosenberg has in mind, it will be interesting to see if the show can establish Jessica's new foes as well as they've done previously while furthering the titular heroine's story. I'm also curious to see if those new episodes will have any more heroic cameos; Luke Cage featured quite heavily in Jessica Jones' first season, and with season two taking place after The Defenders I wouldn't be surprised if Harlem's hero lent Jessica an unbreakable hand.

Season 2 of Jessica Jones will arrive on Netflix in 2018.
