Jersey Boys , the hit Broadway musical, is set to be given a film overhaul courtesy of British power producer Graham King.
The show follows real-life ‘60s rock and roll group Four Seasons, who had their first number one hit in 1962 with ‘Sherry’, which they followed up with another slam dunk in the form of the better-known ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’.
Having run since 2005, the show tracks the rise and fall of the band in the harsh light of the media spotlight, and bagged four Tony awards in 2006. It’s taken over $1bn in ticket sales across the globe – which goes some way to explaining why the movie version has been given the nod.
Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, who both penned the original Jersey Boys book, will write the movie script, while King ( Traffic, The Town ) and his GK Films will produce.
Is it just us, or is Joseph Gordon-Levitt ready made for a movie like this?
