Jeremy Renner is game for a Hawkeye Netflix series

Marvel's Netflix series are just as popular as the movies thanks to their edgy approaches to the material. Daredevil and Jessica Jones exist in the same world as The Avengers, but down on the ground? Life looks a lot different for a second-tier superhero. It's grimy, and the pay's not as good. Which is why the serial format is a great way of exploring characters in the thick of it.

Fans of two 'supporting' Avengers Hawkeye and Black Widow have been excited at the prospect of one or both getting their own shows. Neither of them has really had enough time in the spotlight and it'd be a terrific way to flesh out their backstories. I'm talking beyond flashbacks. So would either actor be game? Sounds like Jeremy Renner is.

“I think that’s actually a really great model," Renner told the audience at Silicon Valley Comic-Con referring to the Netflix shows, "if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”

As he says, it's out of his hands, but it could work. There's been a lot of talk about The Avengers undergoing a major line-up change during Infinity War. If Hawkeye were to bow out, there'd be tons of fans happy to watch his solo missions outside of the group. I mean, he was pretty badass in the Old Man Logan comic.

Come on, Marvel, you know it makes sense.
