Jason Statham will return for Fast & Furious 8
Given that Fast & Furious 7 took the box office by storm, it was no surprise to learn that Universal had swiftly given another sequel the green light. And excitingly, Jason Statham will be on villain duties once more as the returning Deckard Shaw.
“We’re already talking about doing another one, Part 8,” said Statham in a recent interview with Access Hollywood. “I’m a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another.”
It’s unclear whether Statham will be the primary antagonist next time out, or whether his character will be absorbed into the fold in another way. We know Kurt Russell is likely to have his character’s involvement beefed-up for the sequel, so it will be interesting to see how the franchise’s updated roster begins to evolve…
Co-starring the returning Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and chums, Furious 8 will open in the US on 14 April 2017. A new director has yet to be confirmed.
