Jason Momoa shares his reaction to the Aquaman poster
Zack Snyder took everyone by surprise when he tweeted the first image of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, not least Momoa himself, who has told EW.com that he hadn’t been expecting to see it published until 2016…
“That was a shocker for sure,” says Momoa. “It was supposed to be a surprise in 2016, so it definitely helps. I’ve been holding that secret for a long time. Zack Snyder called me up and said, ‘I’m posting this picture now.’”
“He’s just a genius and I love him to death. He sent it over and we’re in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I’m doing right now, and we all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out.”
Momoa went on to describe his excitement over the project in general, explaining how the character is primed to take centre stage in the DC universe…
“The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing,” says the star. “There’s so many things to tell, and there’s a whole back story that’s just amazing. There’s a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he’s been cast aside. But times are going to change now, buddy.”
Aquaman will make his bow in Batman v Superman on 25 March 2016, before his own solo movie arrives on 27 July 2018.
