James McAvoy and Mark Strong feel the heat in the Welcome To The Punch trailer

James McAvoy and Mark Strong go head-to-head in the first trailer for Welcome To The Punch .

The slick Brit thriller is director Eran Creevy’s follow-up to low-budget calling card Shifty , the drug-dealer drama produced under Film London’s Microwave scheme.

Creevy shows no shortage of ambition in the promo for his sophomore effort. If you’re worried this’ll be another Cockney crims caper, check out the trailer.

Bathed in electric blue tones, Punch wears its Michael Mann influences on its sleeve.

James McAvoy’s determined copper is running down a professional and personal vendetta against big-time gangster Mark Strong.

They’re joined by a host of British acting talent too, with Andrea Riseborough, David Morrissey, Peter Mullan and Shifty ’s Daniel Mays.
