James Gunn says Guardians 2 is a story about fathers
James Gunn has been talking about what we can expect from Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, for which he recently completed the first draft of the script. And according to the director, the sequel is at heart “a story about fathers”...
“There’s a lot of stuff I’m excited about in the new movie,” says Gunn. “Listen, I’m still excited about Star-Lord’s character and where he goes. At its heart, Guardians is a story about families, and if the first film was about him and his mother, this is a story about fathers. So it’s exciting to go there.”
The last act of the first film posed a couple of intriguing questions about Star-Lord’s parentage, so we’d imagine that’s the area Gunn is particularly planning to explore. Looks like the childhood flashbacks we saw in the first film didn’t quite tell the entire story…
Directed by Gunn and co-starring the returning Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan, Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 will open in the UK on 28 April 2017 and the US on 5 May 2017.
