James Gunn talks Guardians Of The Galaxy post-credit sequence

We spoke to James Gunn for an in-depth exploration of the making of two of Guardians Of The Galaxy 's key characters - Rocket & Groot - for our Cool Issue ( #222 - on-sale now ).

Whilst we had him, we decided to ask the always-awesome Mr Gunn about Guardians ' post-credit sequence.

And it's lucky we did - with Guardians being the first Marvel movie to withhold its after-movie surprise from the press, you might be worried that it doesn't actually exist.

Fear not, Gunn's Guardians will have a post-credit sequence and, from the sounds of it, it's going to be very special indeed.

Because it’s in the cosmic universe, because it’s its own thing, does that mean we aren’t going to get a post-credit sequence?

"Oh we have a post-credit sequence for you! Oh, do we ever! Yes, well we are connected, first of all we are connected…because of certain characters…but we have a post-credit sequence that’s all our own! That in all honestly we have just been doing the past few days so I think it’s going to be a great deal of fun for people."

Obviously I can’t ask anything specific about it, but can I have just one word to sum up the scene?

"You don’t even want to know what it is! Pure joy, pure joy, that’s two words!"

We’ve only heard of Guardians being talked about in terms of being one-off film, it hasn’t been spoken about as being part of a franchise. Firstly, would you like to do sequels? Are you thinking about it in those terms?

"You know, I’ve thought about that in those terms from the beginning.

We always hope for a success and in light of success you know, there will be more films like this. So we just have to take it one day at a time and see where we end up."

Guardians Of The Galaxy is released on 31 July.
