James Gunn calls Tom Holland's Spider-Man the "best Spidey ever"
If you're anything like me, you've probably watched the new trailer for Captain America: Civil War a few dozen times by now. From Ant-Man hitching a ride on Hawkeye's arrow to Black Panther chasing down Bucky, there was a lot to get excited about. The icing on the cake was our first look at Tom Holland's brand-new Spider-Man, and the young actor has James Gunn's endorsement.
The Guardians of the Galaxy director has already seen the entirety of Civil War, and if his tweets are anything to go by we're going to be very impressed by Holland's performance. Check them out below...
I think @TomHolland1996 is the best Spidey/Peter Parker ever by a country mile. https://t.co/SiH9yP8NvWMarch 10, 2016
It’s his own thing. He is to Spidey as Downey is to Iron Man, Ledger was to the Joker, Pratt is to Star-Lord. https://t.co/uvp9qJb2CxMarch 10, 2016
Talk about high praise! I guess we can officially put Gunn down for #TeamUnderoos.
This isn't the first time the Guardians director has raved about Civil War; during a Facebook AMA last year Gunn called it "one of the best Marvel movies ever" and said that Holland's performance was "off the charts awesome". Thankfully, we don't have long to wait to find out if he's right.
Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan, Captain America: Civil War opens in UK cinemas on April 29, 2016 and May 6, 2016 in the US.

Superman’s super dog Krypto may look all innocent in the trailer, but James Gunn says he is a "terrible dog" and is based on his own mischievous mutt
Spider-Man 4 may include a Marvel heroine although Sony cannot confirm it will be Anya Taylor-Joy as Black Cat, says boss: "There’s a lot of fantastic female characters, but I can't talk about all this"
