Moon was this year’s SF film for SF connoisseurs, a low budget lunar thriller that was intelligent and engrossing. Luckily Duncan Jones seems happy to remain in the realms of sci-fi, as he now has not one, but two new genre projects in development.
We already knew he was working on a script called Mute, which he plans to direct himself, but now it seems he’s also pencilled in to direct another SF movie, Source Code, with Jake (Prince Of Persia) Gyllenhaal set to play the lead.
The film is about a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it (sounds like Groundhog Day meets 9/11). The script, by Ben Ripley, has actually been doing the rounds in Hollywood for a couple of years now, having originally been set up at Universal in 2007, but a revised script has ended up Vendome Pictures, who will produce the movie for Summit (Twilight Saga) to distribute.
