Jake Gyllenhaal stars in intense new Southpaw teaser
A brand new teaser has appeared online for Southpaw, Antoine Fuqua’s boxing drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a troubled boxer attempting to get his life back on track after the untimely death of young wife Rachel McAdams.
Whereas the previous full-length trailer revealed the vast majority of the plot, this latest teaser focuses in on the general tone and intensity of the film, dispensing with dialogue almost entirely, in favour of an all-out assault on the senses. It might only be 35 seconds long, but it knows how to get the adrenaline pumping.
Take a look at the new trailer, below…
Gyllenhaal is in remarkable shape for this one, and it seems as though the fight scenes are going to have a shuddering physicality oft-absent from a Hollywood take on the sport. It certainly doesn’t look to be pulling its punches. Directed by Fuqua and co-starring 50 Cent, Forest Whitaker and Naomie Harris, Southpaw will open in the UK and US on 24 July 2015.
