Jackie Earle Haley joins RoboCop reboot
Jay Baruchel also linked to a role
Jose Padilha's RoboCop reboot has added yet more casting clout to an already impressive ensemble with the news that Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley has signed on to join the sci-fi extravaganza.
According to Deadline , Haley will play Maddox, the man responsible for doling out RoboCop's military training. As you might remember from the original, this new brand of policing isn't about the softly-softly approach…
Jay Baruchel is also said to be closing in on a role, although at present, his involvement remains unconfirmed and the part in question undisclosed. It's an exciting development however, as the cast for this one just grows starrier and starrier.
Should Baruchel follow Haley's lead and sign on, the pair will join a lineup that includes Joel Kinnaman as the titular lawman, Gary Oldman as his creator, Hugh Laurie as a corporate villain, Samuel L. Jackson as a media mogul and Abbie Cornish as what the studio are describing as "the female lead".
Scripted by The Amazing Spider-Man screenwriter James Vanderbilt, RoboCop will open in the UK on 9 August 2013. It should be nothing if not star-studded...
