Talk about yer comedy dream teams. Jack Black has signed on to a new comedy for Sony called Year One that not only features Arrested Development’s Michael Cera as co-star, but Harold Ramis calling the shots and Judd Apatow, current king of Hollywood comedy, as producer. Isn’t it nice to see the young folk of today helping out their elders?
Sadly, the one problem with this being a new Hollywood comedy – and unusually for an Apatow film – is that the plot details are being kept more secret than the recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken. And we’re pretty sure that’s just some chicken bits with a little oil, salt and oregano.
But even without a plot summary, we’re excited – with luck, Apatow’s presence means the man who produced Talladega Nights and Anchorman for Will Ferrell will steer Ramis and Black to a quality laugh output.
Ramis, who dreamt up the idea, co-wrote the script with Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, whose day job is penning material for the US version of The Office.
Given that he’s just released Knocked Up to success and acclaim, and is producing no less than five projects in various stages of completion, we reckon Judd’s earned himself a nice long nap. See you in 2009!
