Sierra Entertainment has announced World in Conflict, a real-time warfare strategy game due for release on PC in spring 2007. And we've got a crate-full of screens and an explosive movie to give you a taste of the upcoming action.
World in Conflict thrusts you into a Cold War that never ended, where the Berlin Wall never fell and where thousands of Russian troops are invading America. The emphasis is on unrestrained combat, with no 'resource gathering' like in other RTS titles - developer Massive Entertainment says it wants to "focus on the one thing people love most about strategy gaming - the combat".
Single-player mode - with a story penned by Cold War boffin Larry Bond - sees you defending America from the attacking Soviet army using a huge range of real-world, Cold War era weaponry. 16-player co-op matches will pit teams of gamers against one another, where you'll fight alongside your compatriots as an infantry, armour, support or aerial specialist.
World in Conflict's not due out for another 12 months, but this exciting trailer has already got us drawing up strategies for assaulting burger joints, donut factories and shopping malls. Stay close for more info.
