The small town in Wiltshire is gearing up for its second comic convention this August
A medieval market town on the river Avon seems like an unlikely rival to San Diego or New York. But last year Melksham launched its very own Comic Con , promising to have the feel of a large city convention within the heart of a local community.
With estimates of about 1,000 people attending, MCC2013 will take place in the local Assembly Hall on Saturday 31 August 2013. It will feature everything a fan of comics, games and sci-fi expects, with an impressive roster of guests who'll be signing work and sketching bespoke pieces throughout the day, as well as selling original artwork.
Confirmed guest writers include:
Kieron Gillen – Iron Man and Young Avengers
Simon Furman – IDW’s Transformers ReGeneration One
Rob Williams – 2000AD and Marvel
Simon Spurrier – 2000AD and X-Men Legacy
Mike Collins – Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Doctor Who
Ben Olivier – Judge Dredd, Batwing
Lee Townsend – Marvel, 2000AD and DC
Dylan Teague – Judge Dredd, Marvel UK, Doctor Who Magazine
Emma Vieceli –the Shakespeare manga and Vampire Academy
Kate Brown – Young Avengers , Fish + Chocolate
And more!
MCC2013 is a not-for-profit event organised run by a team of volunteers, and the organisers launched a very successful Kickstarter campaign (achieving 103% of the goal) to help fund the event.
