Insultingly wicked Mirror's Edge shots
Wasn't supposed to look this good - angry
We didn't quite know what to make of DICE's kung-fu combat game Mirror's Edge when it emerged in magazine previews last year, but after reading the latest eyes-on reports we're absolutely excited - insultingly so.
It's being described as a 'first-person free-runner', basically putting you on the top of a skyscraper and pitting you against helicopters, snipers and an endless army of armed goons.
Set totally in first-person, it's supposed to be visceral as hell with melee kung-fu combat taking centre stage (guns only last until you've fired the clip) and Assassin's Creed-style free-running across buildings making for some incredibly stomach-churning leaps across buildings.
This sort of gameplay hasn't really been pulled off in first-person before, but there are already signs of some particularly smart design choices by the Battlefield dev; for example you can see in the screenshots that you're path across the map is almost mapped out with colour-coded cranes and buildings.
It looks fantastic - let's hope DICE can pull it off.
