Independence Day: Resurgence clip and images show President Whitmore not doing so well

20th Century Fox are sparing no expense when it comes to getting the word out on Independence Day: Resurgence. Just this week we got four (great) posters for the upcoming summer blockbuster, and today brings the first clip, more images, and yet another featurette.

Check them out below...

While the footage in the featurette teases "quite the dogfight" and the images focus on Liam Hemsworth's heroic fighter pilot, the first clip shows Bill Pullman's former President Whitmore reuniting with Brent Spiner's Dr. Okun.

it's great to see these characters again, but the footage we've seen thus far indicates that a lot of the returning cast from the 1996 classic won't make it to the end credits this time round. Thankfully, we don't have to wait long to find out who survives the War of 2016.

Directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward, Independence Day: Resurgence opens in UK cinemas on June 23, 2016 before hitting US theatres a day later.
