According to a site we rarely venture onto called MarketWatch (you think journalists have disposable income? Well, yeah we have but it all goes on beer, not shares), there’s a Buffy MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) on the way.
Fox has teamed up with The Multiverse Network, Inc (a company in which James Cameron is involved) to develop the game, with Beta testing due to begin later this year.
The ground-breaking MMOG will offer a new experience for gamers, allowing them to play it either as a fully immersive 3D environment or as a Flash-based 2D game, where both types of players can interact.
Interestingly, a spokesman for Multiverse is quoted as saying, "Not to give away too much, but when the Buffy team finished the television series, they created the perfect launching point for an MMOG where everyone will feel like they're an important character in the ongoing story." So, we’re all going to be able to play Slayers, then, giving teenage boys the chance to get in touch with their feminine side. Or create an ass-kicking avatar with big tits, at least.
However, the previously-announced Firefly on-line game is now on hold.
