What if Killzone Shadow Fall's OWL was actually an owl?
In my mind it is an actual owl
Right. If you're living in America, you've already got the option to buy a PS4. Me? I've got to wait until Friday seeing as Europe is getting it later. As a result, I haven't yet played Killzone Shadow Fall. I will, don't you worry about that. But until then, all I hear is people talking about it. And its OWL.
It turns out this 'OWL' thing is an acronym for some sort of flying support robot. Maybe 'Offensive Weapon Locator'. Or maybe 'Ornithological Waitress Lozenge'. Like I said, I haven't played the game yet so it's a bit of a mystery to me. But every time someone mentions said OWL, a mental image comes to mind of a real owl, doing awesome things in Killzone. So these are those mental images, brought on by real things people have said in the GR office. Yes, probably mental in both senses of the word.
"It comes out of a crate early in the game"
"The OWL repairs itself"
"I'm pretty sure the OWL uses it to revive you"
"After stunning them with my OWL..."
"I thought my OWL collected adrenaline"
"You can use the OWL as a zipline"
"My OWL stopped doing stuff"
Did you ever think it was a real owl?
That's a stupid question. Of course you didn't. But still, there may have been a sentence you read somewhere, or heard a mate say, that sounded like they were talking about... a real... oh forget it. This has been a very strange feature and there's no way anyone's going to say "hey, you didn't draw one for 'then my owl exploded'" or something like that. So let's just be glad PS4 is out on Friday in Europe and never speak of this again.
