Game of Thrones will play host to special guest Ian McShane during its season 6 run, and it would seem that McShane would like you to know he does not give a damn about spoilers. Which are incoming. I repeat: Turn back now to avoid Game of Thrones season 6 spoilers.
Late last year, McShane revealed that his character would be involved in "bringing somebody back that you think you’re never going to see again." Personally, I'd put my money on said character being fan-favorite Jon Snow, but The Hound also seems to be a good candidate. And while I don't mind speculating, plenty of GoT fans do, and they reacted about as well as you'd expect someone following a long-running series known for its high-stakes personal drama; which is to say not well.
"You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape," he told The Telegraph. "I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a fucking life. It’s only tits and dragons." As if to prove his point, McShane dropped another potential spoiler by saying that he only agreed to do the show because his character would only be around for one episode. "I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode, so I said, 'So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.'"
Now, I say ‘potential spoiler’ because McShane assumed his character would only be around for one episode due to meeting an untimely end. But maybe we only see him in one episode because he takes a vacation and goes to live somewhere nice and warm, without any magical zombies trying to kill everyone. Hey, you never know - it could happen. It's not very likely, but it could.
Game of Thrones season 6 premieres on HBO on April 24, 2016 in the US, and on Sky Atlantic a day later in the UK.
