Hughes Brothers team with Denzel for Book of Eli
A post-apocalyptic drama for Washington
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Albert and Allen Hughes: the pair has been somewhat silent on the movie front ever since they made 2001’s From Hell.
But now they’re shoving the bad karma of that film behind them and plan to destroy the world. They’ve picked Book Of Eli, a script about a lone hero who battles his way across a post-apocalyptic America.
And they already have a star on board, according to Variety . Denzel Washington has nabbed the lead in the movie, which will start shooting in January. While scriptwriter (and former Total Film contributor) Gary Whitta wrote the first draft, Anthony Peckham has handed in the latest version.
Let’s hope audiences are ready for more apocalypse after The Road and whatever’s left once Roland Emmerich’s 2012 is finished.
