Hours director for Breaking Dawn?
Stephen Daldry enters the fang fracas...
Seems that Summit Entertainment aren’t holding back when it comes to approaching big-name directors for their fang-chise capper Breaking Dawn.
Having already been listing Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant and Bill Condon as possibles to direct either one (or both) of the two-part series staker, they have now added Stephen Daldry to their wishlist.
Daldry received Oscar nominations for all three of his features, Billy Elliot , The Hours and The Reader , meaning he's hot property.
Melissa Rosenberg, who has written all of the Twilight movies so far, is still fleshing out the script(s) - we want to read the stage directions in there and see if she actually uses "lip-biting" as an adjective. When that’s done, Summit can make some official approaches to these high-profile helmers.
We still think they’re all a bit of a stretch, and would be surprised if any of them took up the offer. But it’s still interesting to see how much Summit’s ambition has grown since the first Twilight ’s humble beginnings.
That said, Coppola's our favourite out-there name on the list.
