Simon Pegg’s new film arrests a cast and starts shooting this month
Shaun Of The Dead fans can start getting very, very excited. Despite hitting it big with their zom-rom-com and fielding offers from all over Hollywood, writer/star Simon Pegg and co-writer/director Edgar Wright have stuck to their guns and pencilled in time to shoot their next British epic.
And they’ve recruited an all-star British cast for police action comedy Hot Fuzz. Jim Broadbent, Steve Coogan, Timothy Dalton, Edward Woodward, Bill Bailey and Martin Freeman have all signed up. The film follows Nicholas Angel (Pegg), a London copper so good at his job that he makes his colleagues look bad. His embarrassed bosses decide to ship him off to the sleepy West Country town of Sandford. There he’s teamed with local plod Danny Butterman (Shaun co-star Nick Frost), a well-meaning but trigger-happy constable. But when mysterious incidents start happing, Angel discovers that Sandford isn’t quite as sleepy as he thought…
Producer Nira Park, who worked with the team on Shaun, said, "We're delighted to once again be joining creative forces with Working Title on this very exciting and very British film. Together, we're looking forward to giving the police action genre the same treatment we gave the living dead in 2004."
This is one we can’t wait for.
