Homebrew Homicide

The game: Heart of the Alien (Sega CD)

The crime: The developers beat us to the punch.

The setup: Initially, we thought we were damn clever, killing Mr. Alien in all sorts of grotesque ways. Then we realized the game's custom death scenes had to have been set up, animated and painstakingly worked into the game. Basically, the dev team thought of every awful way the alien could die and then brought those horrific moments to life. They must have really, really hated working on this game. There are more death animations for the main character than for any enemy in the game and possibly for any other character on a console. They're worse than anything we could have come up with, given the chance.

Here they are. Set to Benny Hill music. This is the internet's perfect video.

Favorite moment: Hats off to the developers for imagining such terrible things.

  1. Spike pit
  2. Monster mauling
  3. Exploding flower (so gross!)
  4. Crazy bat attack
  5. Flesh-melting acid (only arms survive)
  6. Searing pond
  7. Laser'd
  8. Gas'd
  9. Devoured by plants
  10. Impaled with enemy
  11. Electrocuted
  12. Impaled for the hell of it
  13. Charred by multiple lasers
  14. Punched in the face!
  15. Cold-cocked offscreen, then disintegrated
  16. Absolutely MURDERED by a beast

The last one, oh man, it's so bad. The look of sheer terror on his face says it all.

Need more ultraviolence? Why not watch every single Mortal Kombat fatality - every single one - in one gloriousvideo?
