Homebrew Homicide

Killing is a crucial part of gameplay. You just have to do it. From stomping on a Goomba in Mario to gleefully removing someone's spine from their body, unsupervised murder is as commonplace as trite Wii minigames. But some games, though they do ask you to kill, leave the door open for all sorts of pre-meditated, custom-designed kill-a-thons that have nothing to do with the main game. Be it through boredom or a sick sense of humor, gamers are going to find methods of murder so bizarre that no developer could have seen them coming.

We've gathered six of our favorite create-a-kill moments right here, many of which stem from countless hours of college boredom. Necessity is the mother of invention, after all, and we really needed something to laugh at.

The game: Perfect Dark (N64)

The crime: Time-bombing the President into smoky oblivion.

The setup: Your mission is to infiltrate a high-jacked Air Force One and rescue the President. You're not supposed to kill any of the officers on board because they don't know the plane's changed course. But we went nuts and did anyway, because Joanna Dark is sneaky like that. Then we slapped a mine on the President's head and watched the sparks fly. Repeatedly.

Favorite moment: The last clip, where it sounds like Joanna's presenting the mine as evidence.

"This is a recording of Trent and the other conspirators..."

"I'm in your ha-BLAAAAARG!"
