How to get the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy
Struggling to find the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement? Here's what to do
The Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy is your base. You can decorate it how you want, brew potions, grow plants, raise animals and much more. However, you won't be able to get it until you complete a specific chain of quests that culminate in you getting access to the room and all its features.
In the same way you unlock Hogwarts Legacy broomsticks or learn spells, you'll have to complete key parts of the story before you can unlock the Room of Requirement. Subsequent missions then see you upgrade what you can do, with the first benefit unlocking the ability to grow plants you can to brew potions.
Generally, following the main mission thread will eventually get you what you need and, as we mention in our Hogwarts Legacy tips, you can always check what rewards a quest unlocks from the mission log. But if you want the specifics, here's how to access the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement.
How to find the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy
The Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement quest appears after you've finished an objective called Tomes and Tribulations, helping a character called Richard Jackdaw. After this you'll get access to Flying Classes, and unlock your broom, as well as the Room of Requirement. It's a few hours in so look out for Jackdaw's quest as a indication you're getting close
How to use the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy
Professor Weasley and Deek the house elf will show you the Room of Requirement and teach you three Hogwarts Legacy spells that can an only use within it (Evanesco, the Conjuring Spell, and the Altering Spell). This will allow you to craft various tables for growing plants - like the initially hard to find Hogwarts Legacy Mandrake - making potions, and other elements in Hogwarts Legacy. It also lets you customize elements like the floor and walls, or add decorations like paintings and furniture. However, these room specific spells will take up valuable Hogwarts Legacy spell slots so you'll want to swap them in and out of active rotation as you enter and leave the room.
Once you can access the space you can visit Hogsmeade to buy more 'spellcrafts' from Tomes and Scrolls. This will let you add more things to the room, like Hogwarts Legacy large pots. You can also find decorations in the world as loot.
How to access the Room of Requirement
Once you've unlocked the Room of Requirement you can just open up your Hogwarts Map and look for a sun icon above the school itself. This is the marker for "secret rooms", so hit that and you'll see both the Room of Requirement and Map Chamber Floo Flame points to teleport yourself straight into the room itself.
The release of Hogwarts Legacy has been the subject of criticism and debate due to J.K. Rowling’s public stance on gender identity, which continues to challenge the inclusivity at the heart of the Harry Potter community. Here is our explainer on the Hogwarts Legacy controversy.
