High-def naked Raiden, anyone? Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 getting the HD collection treatment
Remake? REMAAAAAKE!
Publishers, are your star developers taking too long between entries for your biggest franchises? Fans moaning that the new sequels aren't as good as the old ones? Well the HD remake collection is the solution for you! Konami has shown that it understands this handy modern fix, with the Silent Hill 2 and 3 collection announced last night. See also Capcom's the upcoming Resident Evil 4 HD and Sony's Team Ico collection. But you might also want to know that along withsaid Silent Hill revealcame news of Metal Gear Solid: HD Edition, comprising MGS2, and MGS3: Subsistance.
My cynicism is joking of course. This is great news, especially for those of us who bought our PS3s after up-scaled backwards compatibility was taken out, and who can't bear to run our blurry old PS2s though our nice massive HD tellies.
The remasters run in 1080P at 60 frames-per-second, andare looking pretty pretty. We have screens to prove this.
Sadly no MGS1, as the only version arguably capable of an up-res would be The Gamecube's Twin Snakes, and Nintendo probably still owns a one-third share in that, having co-produced it with Konami and Silicon Knights. Double-dip version when Project Cafe comes out? We'll see, friends, we'll see...
Oh, and there's an HD version of the PSP's Peace Walker coming. Though how that will look when blown up to 1080P is anyone's guess.
