Hideo Kojima teases gamers with 'taboo' new game
Mysterious Metal Gear mastermind aims to win big or go home
"The next project will challenge a certain type of taboo. If I mess up, I'll probably have to leave the industry. However, I don't want to pass by avoiding that. I turn 47 this year. It's been 24 years since I started making games. Today, I got an ally who would happily support me in that risk. Although it's just one person. For a start, it's good."
Any time an A-list game designer talks about exploring uncharted territory, we can't help but listen. But perhaps the bigger news here is that Kojima is definitely, certainly working on new stuff.
As for the whole "leave the industry" thing, keep in mind this is the same man who told the world that 2001’s Metal Gear Solid 2 would be his last MGS title. Then he said MGS 3 would be. Then he said MGS 4 would be. Then he announced he would be helping on two more entries in the MGS lineup.
Still, whatever envelope Kojima's pushing is risky enough for him to think it could get him run out of town. What taboo do you think he's referring to? Hit us up onTwitter,Facebookand, of course, in the comments below.
