Here's what comes in a PlayStation VR box

Sony's virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR, comes out this October for $400/£350. And while that's not quite the wallet-destroyer that the Oculus Rift ($600) or HTC Vive ($800) are, it's still quite a bit of dough. So what do you get for your money? Here's the official list of contents you'll find in a PlayStation VR box:

A PlayStation VR headset, which features a 5.7 inch OLED screen providing 1920x1080 resolution (that's 960x1080 per eye), a 120Hz refresh rate, approximately 100 degree field of view, and nine LEDs to give it 360-degree tracking. The headset also supports 3D audio, with a headset jack and mic input.

A processing box to give PlayStation VR an extra bit of oomph and display images onto a connected television.

A plethora of cables to power the headset and processing box.

A pair of earbuds.

A handy user manual to teach you how to assemble all of the aforementioned materials into something you can use and have fun with. It will not, however, come with a PlayStation Camera - which is required. It also won't come with the Star Wars Battlefront VR experience being developed by DICE - which is not required, but almost surely going to be cool.

Also, for fans of ye olde demo discs, every PlayStation VR will come with a VR disc which will "feature a number of playable experiences from some of the best games from the launch line-up" according to the PlayStation Blog. It's also worth noting that The Playroom VR will also be available as a free download for all PS VR owners on launch. This includes six games you can play with friends and family who are armed with controllers rather than headsets.
