Grand Theft Auto film trailer out despite Rockstar shutdown attempt
The first trailer for BBC's Gamechangers, a film documenting GTA's development and its controversial clashes with American laywer Jack Thompson, has gotten a trailer out despite Rockstar's attempts to shut it down. Daniel Radcliffe is taking on the role of Rockstar founder Sam Houser, while Bill Paxton stars as US lawyer Jack Thompson.
A lawsuit was filed against the BBC in May. A statement from Take Two Interactive at the time said "Rockstar Games has had no involvement with this project" and "we have attempted multiple times to resolve this matter with the BBC without any meaningful resolution. It is our obligation to protect our intellectual property and unfortunately in this case litigation was necessary." It seems that whatever litigation was filed hasn't made much of a difference, as the drama will be shown on BBC Two on September 15th.
We spoke to a few devs of the original GTA who weren't so sure about the content of the drama, given that the BBC hadn't been in touch. It's thought that the drama may be based on the novel Jacked! by David Kushner. Unless Rockstar get in there first, we won't have long to wait to find out more. Check out the trailer below.
