Here's the moment you didn't quite hear in the Game of Thrones finale
Obviously spoilers lie ahead for Game of Thrones finale, The Winds of Winter. Flee now if you want to avoid them. I'll even add a nice non spoilery but ultra-satisfying gif between this and the story.
So Game of Thrones big reveal regarding Jon Snow's parentage wasn't exactly a surprise to anyone who was familiar with the R + L = J theory, but it was still nice to have it confirmed in the finale. However, even then, the fact that Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen was only confirmed by a whisper in a young Ned Stark's ear from his sister Lyanna. A whisper that we couldn't actually catch because we're not Spider-Man. Or are we?
Our master video wizard James Jarvis has tweaked some audio to actually let us hear what Lyanna said. You can hear it below and while we still can't make out the name, she says "His name is .... If Robert finds out, he'll kill him. You know he will. You have to protect him. Promise me Ned. Promise me."
So there you go. The Robert she's talking about his obviously the very new king, Robert Baratheon who knows that any surviving Targaryen children need to be killed for him to stay on the throne. Instead of having his nephew murdered, the honourable Ned takes him home as his own bastard, setting up just a bit of an explosive Targaryen plot for next season. Don't worry. There's only forty two weeks to go...
