Sorry to ruin your day, night, or overall week, but I've got one hell of a disturbing game to show you today. Meet Blasphemous, a sort of 2D take on Dark Souls filled with unnerving, evocative, and religious imagery.
The game is set in a world built on religious dogma gone awry, where self-flagellants and cross-bearing ghouls attempt to crush you into dust. And those are just the human-sized enemies. Don't even get me started on the plethora of creepy-ass shit this game has in it. Actually, do get me started. Because this is seriously demented:
As is this brutal execution.
What the hell even is this thing?
Please tell me that colossus stays in the background…
And alright, I know you're not supposed to say this, but that is one evil, ugly baby.
Blasphemous is currently on Kickstarter and has already met its $50,000 goal. This means the game should - if developer Game Kitchen can stick to its schedule - release on PC sometime in early 2019. However, should additional stretch goals be met, the studio hopes to bring Blasphemous to Xbox One, PS4, and Switch as well.
