Here's the point - mouse support is coming to Xbox One
As Xbox One and Windows 10 begin to merge, melting into one another like some techy Brundlefly, it stands to reason that they'd begin sharing features. We've seen screen mirroring and cross-platform gaming, and now it seems there'll be some shared hardware.
In response to a question about whether Xbox One would one day be able to mirror a Windows 10 display (in short: probably not), Phil Spencer let slip that mouse support would be coming to Xbox One in the not so distant future. Here's the tweet:
@lgriao @PNF4LYFE @Tak225Th Yep, keyboard and mouse support for Xbox would need to be there for this to work, those aren't far away.July 21, 2015
While the lack of a Windows 10 mirror means it probably won't aid browsing the console too much, keyboard support is already in place, and the addition of mouse control should make certain games far more palateable. You only need to look at Fable Legends' Villain mode to see the benefit. Whether mouselook will make its way into older games is anyone's guess at this point.
Personally, I'm hoping for it to work as a second controller - we've contacted Microsoft for a comment.
