Henry Cavill says Batman v Superman is not a Superman sequel
Henry Cavill has been talking to MTV about Batman v Superman, and says that the superhero extravaganza should be classed as a film in of itself, as opposed to a Superman sequel.
"I’ve only seen a little bit of ADR stuff, but that’s it, and that wasn’t even in colour," says Cavill when asked to give his feedback on the film so far. "I’m hoping to see it some time this year, for a friends and family screening or something. But I really know nothing about what the finished product looks like."
"I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel," he continues. "This is Batman v Superman, so it’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character, and expanding upon this universe, which was kicked off by Man Of Steel. It’s an introduction to the character, and ultimately an introduction to Justice League."
With the inclusion of the likes of Wonder Woman, Aquaman and, of course, Batman, it has long been clear that Batman v Superman would be a far cry from Man Of Steel 2, but it's interesting to hear Cavill say as much. Clearly the message is that DC's expanded world-building begins here…
Directed by Zack Snyder and co-starring Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons, Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will open in the UK and US on 25 March 2016.
