How to kill Helldivers 2 Bile Titans and where to find them
Bile Titans are the biggest of the bugs and definitely the toughest of them all in Helldivers 2
Killing Helldivers 2 Bile Titans can be a serious challenge because of their strong armor and incredibly powerful attacks, which means picking the right weapons and Stratagems is crucial. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to bring down these bile-spewing behemoths in Helldivers 2, even if you're a lower level and don't have access to the most powerful Stratagems beyond level 10. Once they start appearing at Challenging difficulty and above, being armed with the knowledge to take them down is just as important as things only get worse as you increase the difficulty. I'll cover everything you need to know about taking down Bile Titans in Helldivers 2 below, including where to find them reliably.
Helldivers 2 Bile Titan locations
Bile Titans are found on all Terminid-occupied planets in the eastern sectors of the galaxy, but they first start appearing at Challenging difficulty. At this difficulty level, one of your mission objectives in your chosen operation could be to "eliminate Bile Titans", tasking you with exploring the map to find one or two Bile Titans and killing them. From Hard difficulty and above, massive enemies can spawn during missions with each subsequent difficulty increasing the chance that you'll find Bile Titans. At Suicide Mission difficulty and above, Bile Titans can be found surprisingly often wandering the map as a lone patrol or emerging from Bug Breaches with many other Helldivers 2 Terminids.
If you need to kill Bile Titans for a daily Personal Order or other challenge, finding a Challenging Operation with an "eliminate Bile Titans" mission is the easiest method for doing so.
Helldivers 2 Bile Titan weaknesses
Bile Titans are one of the most heavily armored Helldivers 2 enemies, but the mouth and glowing green underbelly are weak points that should be your focus for damage. The underbelly is armored but not heavily, so you can destroy it with regular primary weapons. Shooting the underbelly until it bursts not only massively weakens the Bile Titan, but also prevents it from being able to spit bile, which massively limits the threat it poses.
If you're not able to destroy the underbelly, shooting a Bile Titan in the mouth with a high damage shot as it's about to vomit everywhere will cancel the attack. Railguns in particular are great for this - but what aren't they good for? Hitting them square in the mouth from the side with a charged Railgun shot can also quite reliably one-shot a Bile Titan. I'm not sure if this is an intended weak point or not, but it's good to exploit on the highest difficulties.
However, Bile Titans are heavily armored pretty much everywhere else, so you'll need explosives and Helldivers 2 armor-piercing weapons and Stratagems to quickly bring down such a big bug. Here's a quickfire list of the best Bile Titan-killing weaponry your squad should pick before dropping in:
- Railgun
- Autocannon
- Recoilless Rifle
- Expendable Anti-Tank
- Laser Cannon
- Orbital Railcannon Strike
- Orbital Laser
- Eagle 500kg Bomb
- Eagle 110mm Rocket Pods
- Autocannon Sentry
- Rocket Sentry
You obviously won't need to use every single one of those Stratagems at once to bring down a single Helldivers 2 Bile Titan, but if each player on your squad has at least one of those, you should have some options. In a pinch, a well-placed Hellpod from a teammate that's just been called back with reinforcements can also deal a lot of damage to a Bile Titan.
Importantly, when fighting a Bile Titan, you need to use the environment to your advantage to avoid the Bile Titans spews (just like regular Helldivers 2 Bile Spewers) and make moving as awkward as possible for it – they're quite fast when moving in a straight line, so make it have to turn lots or go around obstacles. Keeping your distance is also advised, but if the Bile Titan gets too close, running directly under it and avoiding its leg attacks can also be quite safe. This also gives you a good view of its underbelly.
