Harley Quinn co-creator approves of Suicide Squad look
Reaction to the first costumed ensemble shot from Suicide Squad has been universally positive, with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn one of the undoubted high points. It's a view shared by the character's co-creator, Bruce Timm, who has revealed he was pleasantly surprised by Harley's big screen look.
"I’m actually really excited," Timm told Polygon. "I just today, just before the show started, saw the first image of Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad movie, and I thought ‘Whoa. She looks actually pretty cute!’ I was actually kind of worried I thought, ‘Oh, she’s going to look really, really bizarre and skanky’ but nah, she’s not too bad. So I’m often mistaken."
"I just saw the pic like a couple hours ago," he told io9 in a separate interview. "It was interesting. I was frankly a little nervous about what Harley would look like, but I thought she looked really cool. So I’m optimistic, we'll see.”
She certainly looks the standout in that first Suicide Squad image, stealing the show from the likes of Will Smith and Jai Courtney, while also meeting far less garish than Jared Leto's Joker. 5 August 2016 can't come soon enough…
