Halo who?
Ten shooters that will make you forget about Master Chief
BioShock
We know we're supposed to care about Halo 3's plot. We know we're supposed to be hyped to "finish the fight" and "believe," but Halo's epic tale is stuffed with so much sci-fi minutiae that we find it more boring than anything else. We're sure there's a reason why we're wandering through an alien ship filled with the Flood, but quite frankly, we don't give a damn. We just want to make some stuff blow up and find the organic door to the next area.
Above: BioShock's Rapture has a gripping plot, intriguing premise, and an eye-catching art style. Halo 3 doesn't
But while Halo 3's forgettable cutscenes make for a great excuse to get a drink or use the bathroom, BioShock's compelling premise and plot kept us on the edge of our seat throughout the entire game. Part of it's due to the game's great writing. The game's plot features themes that touch on religion, capitalism, communism, and free will, while throwing you in an under water utopia turned dystopia. It's also due to the unique art deco art style that's a refreshing departure from Halo 3's generic sci-fi look.
