The Halo 5: Guardians box art has been revealed - what's going on with it?
Team Players
Here's a closer look at the Spartan fireteam taking up residence in Agent Locke's surprisingly ornate chest cavity - led by none other than poster-mate, Master Chief. The official Xbox news story says these teams "play a crucial role in the showdown between the Master Chief and Spartan Locke".
Player Team?
And here's Locke's fireteam, an altogether sleeker-looking bunch. There's no word on whether these particular groups will be campaign characters, a la Halo: Reach, but there's definitely an air of inter-Spartan conflict going on.
Big Bad
Completing what seems to be the game's hate triangle is the colossal desert-robot-thing from the original Halo 5 reveal trailer. It bears the anti-gravity hallmarks of Forerunner technology, but it's flanked by Covenant Banshees.
You know what's better than seeing the box art for a game you're looking forward to? Seeing an animated poster of a wide version of said box art. And would you credit it, here's one for Halo 5: Guardians now!
Continuing the well-established "Master Chief vs. Spartan Locke" theme, the most interesting element is the addition of two four-person fireteams to the mix, each led by one of the game's main characters.
Microsoft describes them as "new Spartans", implying some kind of character to them - I'd wager there's a fair chance we'll see Halo follow Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's example by including 4-player co-op in its campaign this time around.
Here's the art you can expect to find on your copy of the game come its release on 27th October.
