Halo 5: Guardians will ship with 21 multiplayer maps and add at least 15 more following the game's October 27 release date. But if you find you're not a fan of what developer 343 Industries has to offer, you'll be able to build your own in a revamped Forge mode. One downside, however: it won't be available until December.
The good news is that there are a lot of improvements to be found in the new Forge. It has more than 1,600 objects to place (previous Forge object count never exceeded 1,000), Forge maps are now given processing budgets instead of arbitrary dollar amounts, objects can be given unique colors and lighting effects, and perhaps most useful, the ability to group up to 64 objects and manipulate them simultaneously. You can see what that looks like in the image below, which I have definitely not been hypnotized by for the past 30 minutes.
343 didn't lock down anything more specific than "December" for the Forge mode release date, but did note that it will run as an ongoing, free service.
