Halo 3 Beta Video Strategy Guide
Maximize your kill count with the latest info on Halo 3's new guns, gear, maps, and rides
For most players, the Mongoose is a short ride towards premature death. Although it's fast and maneuverable, it has little armor and no armaments, soit's mostly useful for well-coordinated assaults in team-based matches.
In Valhalla, the Mongoose can be used to quickly move the bomb carrier to your enemies' base. In capture the flag, you can drop off your passenger at your opponents' base and circle around while he picks up the flag for a quick getaway.
When playing offense in territories on Highground, try charging territory three with the Mongoose and a companion. While the defenders are busy holding off the rest of your team from capturing territories one and two, you and your teammate can start capturing number three right under their nose. Even if the defenders pounce on you, that'll free up the rest of your team to capture territories one and two that much quicker.
But these sorts of tactics require teamwork and communication. So unless you're playing with friends or a clan, it's quite likely that any trips in the new Mongoose will end with you blown to smithereens. If you want to see some fun flying/falling physics, try driving your Mongoose up your base's ramp into the Man Cannon. Your crash test Spartan will go flying and flipping through the air.
