Guns 'n' Roses/Mega Man X5 mystery solved by... Claire Redfield
Voice actress ends decade of wondering via Twitter
Our modern age leaves little room for mystery. We know the photo of the Loch Ness Monster was a toy submarine. We've heard from the pranksters who started the crop circle phenomenon. And now one more vexing question has been answered: how the bosses in the English-language version of Mega Man X5 came to be named after the members of Guns 'n' Roses. It should come as no surprise that the nagging oddity was put to rest by the intrepid (albeit fictional) Claire Redfield. Sort of.
%26ldquo;Apparently the localization I did for a Capcom game is infamous,%26rdquo; tweeted Redfield voice-actress Alyson Court this weekend. Court went on to explain how her then-husband was a big Guns 'n' Roses fan in 2000; with the band on indefinite hiatus, the poor fella's fandom was waning, so Court changed the names of Spike Rosered, Shining Hotarunicus, Crescent Grizzly, Volt Kraken and Tidal Makkoeen to Axle the Red, Izzy Glow, Grizzly Slash, Squid Adler and Duff McWhalen.

Doubtless Mr. Alyson Court found solace in blasting the G'n'f'n'R stand-ins during those lean years when the only new Gunners track was a subpar contribution to the End of Days soundtrack. But %26ldquo;when fans started complaining, he got mad at me,%26rdquo; laments Court: %26ldquo;I meant well!%26rdquo; The two have since separated. We're not saying the transformation of Dark Necrobat into Dark Dizzy caused the separation... but then, we're not not saying it.

I've seen enough: Assassin's Creed Shadows will beat Black Flag as my favorite AC game as Ubisoft says it lets you "Naruto run" as the "fastest Assassin" it's ever made
